Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word generally believe that it's an isolated island to the west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. This is not true. Brugel was raised in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. She had a dream to become professional, however due to a rapid expansion, she outgrew every one of her dancing partners. She admitted in an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. After I reached the point of outgrowing male dance partners, I began to stop. Many former dancers turn to acting, which is what Brugel did. An instructor in drama in her high school was able to push her in the direction she wanted to go in. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the school's annual production. She auditioned and ended up playing the lead in Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in 2000. For the last two decades she has had her in more than 60 shows and films. The role she was most famous for was as Rita (shown in the video below) in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
